Council Facilities

East Cowes Town Council is responsible for running the Town Hall and The East Side Curve community hub including East Cowes Community Library, some facilities on the Esplanade, a number of parks, gardens and play areas in the town and two sets of public toilets. Staff are based in offices at the Town Hall. They oversee the day to day business of the council ensuring that all the facilities are kept in good condition for the enjoyment of the people of East Cowes.

Town Hall and The East Side Curve

York Ave, East Cowes

 

At the heart of the town in York Avenue the town hall was built in 1897. It is a large hall with a stage, balcony and servery. The Facilities Office is located upstairs. A great venue for regular classes and activities, parties and events. August 2022 saw the opening of The East Side Curve next door. This community hub is home to East Cowes Community Library, the Clerk’s Office, a meeting room and public toilets accessed from Osborne Road.

Esplanade

 A great facility for all ages with picnic benches and a café nearby. The paddling pool is open daily from 8am to 8.30pm or dusk from May to the end of September. Toilet facilities also available.

The tennis court a short distance away is open from 8am to 8.30pm (or dusk).

Recreation

East Cowes Town Council look after various recreational facilities in the town. With a paddling pool, a skatepark and several play areas to choose from there is something for everyone. The parks and play areas are inspected regularly to ensure that they are safe and well kept. These facilities are free for everyone.

Toilets

Like many other town councils on the island East Cowes has taken on running the toilet facilities from the Isle of Wight Council. They are cleaned daily by staff employed by the town council. Maintenance and repair issues are identified and dealt with quickly. The toilets are open daily from 8am until 8.30pm dusk except over the Christmas holidays.
