East Cowes Heritage Centre
The Heritage Centre has set up in 1992 by volunteers of the Isle of Wight Society. A permanent history of the town has been created in Clarence Road.
Since 1993 over 80 different exhibitions have been mounted with subjects as varied as the schools, the shipyards, the churches and farms have been presented. These are now stored in files which the public can browse.
Entry to the centre is free and visitors can come in to view an exhibition or explore the extensive archives of documents, maps and photographs to find out about the history of the town. All information has come from people in the town.
